Education Excellence

Education is the heartbeat of democracy and the lifeblood of prosperity. If Rhode Island has a first-class school system and a well-educated workforce, there are no limits to growth in Rhode Island.

Essential building blocks have been put in place but entrenched interests are avoiding reforms and delaying changes that will bring excellence to Rhode Island schools, especially our urban schools.

why change?

  • Only 70% of ninth graders end up graduating high school
  • 43% of fifth graders are not proficient in math, 34% in reading, and 46% in writing
  • RI’s cost per pupil is the tenth highest in the country

what needs to be done?

  • Consolidation of Administrations/Districts
  • Statewide Teacher Contract
  • Charter Schools
